Splatter @ RSVP Australia 2007, Singapore!

Splatter @ RSVP Australia 2007, Singapore!

Splatter's huge export success story began with the overwhelmingly successful 'RSVP Australia' promotional visit to Raffles City, Singapore in late March 2007 where they launched their new online gallery.

The event they were selected to be part of; RSVP Australia, Australian City and Coastal Lifestyles, was a joint venture organised by Tourism Australia, Austrade, and Foreign Affairs and a host of major sponsors including QANTAS, and Raffles City. The event was held between 9 and 18 March 2007 in the beautiful central atrium of the Raffles City Shopping Precinct and some 80,000 people a day on average visited the centre.

RSVP Australia is an ongoing initiative to promote Australia and it's attractions to the potential tourist market in Australia's surrounding region. The event was 15 months in the planning and included nine other high end designer brands, selected for leadership in their respective fields from all over Australia.

Splatter's Angie Maher and Christopher Martin were selected to attend the event to promote their brand Splatter, to sell their original artwork, and to promote the global launch of their new online gallery and store.

Singapore's response to Splatter's products was so amazing that all stock they had taken over to sell for the ten day event was sold out by the second day. This left them with the happy problem of replacing stock every night to rehang the following day. When they ran out of materials they had taken over for the event, they had to source local suppliers for the remaining week of the event.

Christopher, Splatter's Creative Manager, painted in situ for large crowds of adults and children, sometimes painting orders for people on the spot because of the huge demand for his work.

"There were times when the customer's response reached frenzy-like levels, " Angie Maher, Splatter's Managing Director said. "We knew our product was popular at home and that our business has a very strong base after over ten years, but we were not really prepared for such a fantastic and solid reaction to Christopher's work."

Splatter were the top sellers at the event and the massive response to, and interest in, their product resulted in a meeting with the Head of Visual Merchandising for Singapore Department Store Robinson's. Since their return last week, Splatter have designed and completed an installation of 320 of their paintings for a feature "mosaic" installation on the 6th floor of Robinson's newly renovated children's department. This was launched on 31 March at Robinson's busy Centrepoint Store.

Splatter also held two meetings with the Singapore Zoo during their working visit, to discuss licensing and product development and possible future ventures with the Zoo and neighbouring Night Safari.

Austrade were so pleased with Splatter's performance and success in the Singapore market that they have added them to the New Exporter Development Program, with plans to expand on their success in the South-East Asian region and further a field.
